New Release: "St. Louis Cemetery No. 2 -- Autumn"

“St. Louis Cemetery No. 2 — Autumn” (2023)

This print is one of two that I recently completed that is inspired by the feeling I have around certain areas or structures of New Orleans. This photograph was made in early December of 2021. St. Louis Cemetery No. 2 is among many cemeteries that has yet to reopen since the pandemic. Just like St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, this was one of my favorite places to ride my bicycle to and wander, reading the names on the crypts and enjoying the patina of the decaying structures. There was always some small mystery to encounter like the psychic woman who informed that I had a curious spirit who liked to follow me or the burning wicks of candles inside the open maw of a stone crypt.

Print Details

LIMITED EDITION print is made on Hahnemuehle William Turner photography paper. The character of this watercolor paper is a thick, heavy, textured quality that feels great to hold and looks amazing framed on the wall. There is no glare reflected off the paper but it instead beautifully absorbs the light. A local printer I work with and I also noticed that the image on this paper appears more saturated than other papers we’ve tested. This is the paper that was used to exact my intention for the final result of this print.

OPEN EDITION print is made on a high quality matte paper that is bright, colorful but doesn’t reflect light nor does it have that faded, drab look that sometimes occurs on other matte papers. We have tested this print on various matte and rag papers but ultimately decided that this one exhibited the qualities of the work (contrast, saturation, detail) that I wanted our collectors to enjoy.
