New Art Show! After the Flora Opening Night is April 15

I invite you to please join me for the opening of my first art show on April 15 from 3-5PM. Light snacks and beverages will be available and I’ll be on hand to answer questions about the artwork.

After the Flora will be at Arabi Lighthouse Record Store beginning next Saturday, April 15 and will run through May. In February of 2022, I shuttered the plant store that I had for nearly five years to focus again on art and photography. I’d wanted to make a drastic, risky departure from all previous work to express ideas that only existed in the metaphysical world. While I had previously made work in this vein it had not been the driving focus of my attention so that it would not distract the more conventional photography I had been doing for nearly fifteen years.

After the Flora is a collection of works mostly made throughout 2022. Since the closure of my plant store, I lived a near monastic life, committing myself to the parlay of my subconscious and experience to cultivate deeper ideas. I had developed after five years in the plant world what I can best describe as a spiritual bond to our planet’s most vital organisms. I further compiled ideas that I’d been sitting on for twenty years and got to work. 

While this show features a variety of works rather than from a single series, it’s a launch of this new phase of my career. You’ll view a compilation of works from three series, including Excorcism, Disembodied and another that hits closer to home, here in New Orleans. Caution is gone and I worked with a full heart, putting all of myself and beyond into it. This result is from a year of living, learning, pushing, failing and trying again until it became twenty-odd pieces that I felt was a good representation of my creativity.

Any interested buyers should note that most of the artwork is limited edition, printed on some of the finest photography paper ever produced and comes with a certificate of authenticity, serial number and registration.
