In Case You’re Keeping Score…

The month began with the opening of a vampire themed apothecary restaurant by Marita Crandle who commissioned me to do the art for her new location. Two weeks later the opening of my new art show, After the Flora began at Old Arabi Lighthouse Records and Books. Most of these pieces are still yet to be publicly released but stay tuned. The delay of this body of work is due print tests to determine which medium will best support the art but also because of the completion of the update of my site. The Casket Girls diptych, however has been released as individual works for purchase. Only three of the 40” x 50” remain of “The Casket Girls No. 1” and “The Casket Girls No. 2” but there are other sizes available in 11” x 14”, 16” x 20”, 36” x 45”. These limited edition prints are registered with individual serial numbers and come with certificates of authenticity. Prints start at $150 each. Shipping options are also available.

Making art is an exercise in defeat with lots of failures and tough times along the way so it has been enlightening for me to experience these results after exerting so much trial and effort.

The Apothecary is located in the French Quarter at the site of the old Reverend Zombie’s near Pat O’Brien’s. The food and drinks are terrific and the decor is exquisite. There is a tarot reader on hand and four of my pieces are currently displayed while a fifth is still in production. There are two very large prints of “The Casket Girls” upstairs in the soon to open attic.

The Apothecary is located at 725 St. Peter Street

Old Arabi Lighthouse Records and Books is owned and operated by the author, photographer and musician, Louis Maistros (please do yourself a favor and read his book The Sound of Building Coffins, one of the finest fictional books to be set in New Orleans). I was first a fan of Louis’s when I lived in New York CIty so it was truly an honor to be invited to do a show at his new record store and gallery. It will be up through May so if you’re looking for some awesome records in a cool space, stop over at Arabi and view my show.

Old Arabi Lighthouse Records and Books is at 234 Mehle Avenue
